Gyros - one dish, lot's of fun
This can be done with a chicken or Turkeys

For those bored with traditional dishes.
Ingredients for 4 servings:
- ab. 400 g skinless turkey breasts (2 pieces)
- 200 g white rice (2 bags)
- 1 onion (1 piece)
- pickled cucumber 4 large
- red bell pepper - 1 or 2
- 75 g ketchup (5 tablespoons)
- 125 g mayonnaise (5 tablespoons)
- 160 g Gouda cheese (2 cups grated)
- 45 ml olive oil (3 tablespoons)
Spices: salt, pepper,
Gyros seasoning - ready to buy or you can do by yourself:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon hot paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried garlic
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon ground fenugreek
Equipment: oven, large frying pan, stove, pot, ovenproof dish
Recipe for gyro bake step by step:
1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan. Add finely chopped onion to the pan and sauté. When the onion is golden, add diced chicken. Season the meat with salt, pepper, and gyro seasoning. Sauté until it's browned.
2. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once done, let it cool and transfer it to an ovenproof dish, drizzled with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
3. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise with ketchup. Spread half of the resulting sauce over the rice, and save the other half for later.
4. Slice the pickled cucumbers and chop the bell pepper into cubes. Arrange a layer of vegetables over the rice.
5. Cover the vegetables with the sautéed chicken. Spread a layer of sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle the entire dish with grated cheese.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes.
